Why do people gift unusuals

So I am wondering if people can use a gift wrap on a tradable item and why. I have never used gift wraps, so I don't really know how they work besides being able to trade untradable items. You are correct in that every unusual unboxed is tradeable. There are two main reasons why a certain individual would gift wrap a tradeable item, such as an unusual:.

Traders may deem items with gift text less valuable, however traders are not the only people who play TF2. While I do like to get my hats signed by competitive players, I do agree with having normally gifted items be worth less than their clean counterparts. Same with dupes. Why would you buy the duped hat for 30 Earbuds when the clean counterpart costs exactly the same?

You would not, thus making such price reductions a natural part of this economy. Sneeza and Robin wow, getting a signature from them would make the item go up in price rather than down, on a side note I wonder how much the valve rocket launcher would be worth in buds if robin ever tried to sell it. I'm sure Robin is pretty happy with what valve is paying him, no need to sell tf2 items. What if he sold it for charity. What if he just created an item and sold that in the mann co store for charity?

He already did that once with the Japan stuff. And valve did that one of every item in tf2 auction. I heard, "If it's gifted then it's dirty". If you can't handle 1 bad mistake, I worry for your future sir. I've made plenty of mistakes in my trading career and I am standing perfectly fine several weeks and months later. Don't make a tread here to ask something like that, this is just how ignorant of a community we have here as you can see, next time just ask only to someone who is an experienced trader.
